September 2010 – The Carragher Chronicles

Dear Praying Friends,

“God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.” ~I Corinthians 1:9

Our Lord is faithful, and He uses each of you to show our family what faith is. We can never find words strong enough to express our gratitude and love for each of you. There is not a day when we do not thank the Lord for you. You are our heroes!

The Lord continues to show favor on our mission and amazes everyone with His trust in our ministry. The last few months have been the busiest we have ever had. We have watched the Lord bring four new missionary families — all with a call so fervent it can only be from the Lord. Currently, I am working with another three families praying and preparing for service. You are recipients with us of their fruit.

Our Bible distribution ministry with Bearing Precious Seed has grown from measuring in hundreds to measuring shipments in tens of thousands. The Lord only knows the fruit from distributing His word to all the branches all over the world. There is not a month without a letter from one of our heroes or families thanking us and testifying of salvation experiences. All of you are part of these saved.

Being this busy has also allowed us to share the gospel more than ever before. I do not believe a week has gone by when we were not able to share the gospel and have seen people saved. The Lord is using our shared ministry to save souls. Though you may have a week without seeing folks saved back at your church — you’re still seeing folks saved with us.

In July, we were able to be on every major post in our area. We are always amazed at how young our guys now seem to be and their conviction to protect us. While many young folks are lying on a couch somewhere playing video games, these folks are in the midst of the biggest war since Vietnam and enlisted knowing the hardships they would face. I assure you that none of them need a dictionary to define the word honor — they represent it. We have the unique pleasure and joy of ministering to these heroes. You’re all godly patriots who place their needs above your own. Thank you for loving them and us.

We are closely following the deployments and movements of our heroes. As Iraq deployments decrease, we watch the numbers double in Afghanistan. In the last few days, twenty-four of our heroes have given their lives. We have an even a greater urgency to reach them, and reach them quickly. Last week, I had lunch with a young man on leave from Afghanistan. He said they’re all excited with the new directive to flush out pockets of terrorism and take cities. He also said they’re scared and need the gospel. Accordingly, our job is expanding and we need laborers. Sometimes I feel we’re only scratching the surface. If you know someone who can help, please have them contact us.

• Pray for more churches to reach out to local Veteran homes and hospitals.
• Pray for our veterans — 18 veterans commit suicide every day.
• Pray for the families of the 5,700 heroes that have died in Afghanistan and Iraq; and the 33,000 that have been injured.
• Please pray for our families’ health and safety as we represent the ministry and reach out to our heroes and their families.
• Pray for open doors on bases and in VA hospitals.
• Pray for Douglas II as he starts his second year of college and Daniel working on his junior year of high school.
• Pray for Debbie as she is on a waiting list for surgery to help her neck.

We are honored to serve with you. May the Lord bless your faithfulness,

Doug, Debbie, Doug II and Daniel Carragher
