December 2010 – The Carragher Chronicles

Dear Praying Friends,

My family and I are so honored to serve the Lord with people like you. There is not a day that we are not reminded of your faithfulness and obedience to our Lord and Savior. He uses all of you as examples of His wonderful love. We thank God for your faithfulness; and we would like to wish you a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR.

“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” -Luke 2:10-11

I will never forget the day I heard the good tidings and received the great joy. My life will never be the same. It is our goal as your missionaries to share these good tidings as we endeavor to reach a lost world. By God’s grace we witnessed four souls saved since our last letter. Thank the Lord for His increase.

I have been very busy over the last couple of months. I had the privilege of presenting our ministry at four colleges and working with two wonderful missionary family prospects. Also, we were able to work with two of our families at their planted churches. What a blessing to see the Lord using these people on bases and in their communities. Sometimes it seems like there is not enough hours in a day.

Our Bible and John and Romans distribution continues to reach our heroes around the world. We now have about 100 boxes left to ship. Please join us in prayer as we pray in the resources. Also, join us praying in more scripture for next year.

On my way home from a church in October, I was rear ended by a F250 while traveling about 15 miles an hour in a traffic jam. As a result of the accident, I now have 2 herniated disks in my neck. My initial treatment plan is to use traction and exercise during physical therapy to relieve pressure. It is the Spine Specialist’s opinion that surgery and treatments are improving quickly and hopefully the physical therapy can provide comfort as less invasive forms of disk replacements gain approval. This has forced me to cancel all meetings at least through the middle of January. Please join me in prayer for complete healing.

Prayer Requests:
• For Christ to have the preeminence in our ministry and for us to bring him honor and glory.
• For a personal need. A member of my home church, Good News Baptist, suggested I mention this personal financial need. Over the past few years, I have had serious problems with my gums and teeth. I have finally got an estimate of the work needed which should be $22,000; however, thanks to the LORD intervening, I have found a couple of dentists who will discount their work markedly down to $7,000. Essentially, they’re doing work for their cost. If the Lord would put this need on your heart to assist in this matter I would truly appreciate any help.
• For an oversea’s missions conference. Pastor Tim Drylie our missionary in Vicenza, Italy has asked me to preach his missions conference at the end of January, They are a small church without the resources to buy a plane ticket. The ticket is around $1,300.00. I would appreciate your prayers in this area as well.
• For new missionaries to reach our military heroes for Christ.
• For spiritual and physical health for my family and me.
• Praise for the faithful supporters and prayer warriors.
• For our military, their safety, and open doors to reach them with the gospel of Christ.

We consider it a great honor to serve with you. We love you and are praying for you to have a very Merry Christmas and Christ filled New Year.

May the Lord bless your faithfulness,
Doug, Debbie, Doug II and Daniel Carragher
