July 2009 – The Carragher Chronicles

Dear Praying Friends:

“The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.” -Ruth 2:12

It is our prayer that you will receive His full reward for your faithfulness to our God called mission. We fully realize that each of you are a gift from our gracious Lord. Thank you for your testimony of our Lord’s grace.

The Lord provided our family a week at a pastor’s home in DC for a wonderful family vacation. Also, Debbie and I were able to spend a week together on a second honeymoon in a donated timeshare. We are well rested and thankful for two-weeks of vacation. We have only had three weeks in the past six years.

Our ministry continues to grow with our answering calls for Bibles, tracts, recommended churches for military folks, and meeting requests to reach out to family members. It is our honor to locate our military heroes on the bases and to share with them their families’ concern over their spiritual need.

Locally, I was able to speak on a Navy ship and deliver tracts and Bibles. Debbie taught a young Navy wife to drive and took her for her driver’s test. Her husband is deployed and she had no way to get around. We continue to counsel our military heroes using the Bible as the standard. Thankfully, the Lord has healed two marriages. The devil wants to destroy our heroes’ lives and lead them to believe there is no hope. We’re thankful to be Ambassadors of the only one who can provide true hope.

In Heaven, you will meet many that your ministry provided the gospel to. On this side, only the Lord knows your ministry impact.

Prayer Requests:
• For our ministry and that souls will be saved.
• For the plane tickets to visit our missionaries in Europe and Asia.
• For our supporting churches.

May the Lord bless your faithfulness,
Doug, Debbie, Douglas and Daniel Carragher

I believe one of the greatest blessings of being retired military is the ability to wear my uniform and present the gospel. In the past few months the Lord has blessed and we have seen several saved during these opportunities. It always amazes me how veterans and active duty folks respond to my uniform by sharing about their military service. I cannot remember how many times our conversations end with me holding them in my arms and thanking them for their service

John 15:13, Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

THE COST OF WAR:
• 4329 heroes dead in Iraq
• 749 heroes dead in Afghanistan
• 31,431 wounded in the War on Terror
• The Denver Post claims crimes committed by Fort Carson soldiers are tied to intense combat. Thank the Lord the Cookes and the Wrights have started Emmanuel Independent Baptist Church there. Our heroes need the Lord; He alone can heal them.
